Digital trading services

1. How can I register to use digital trading services?

If you have opened an account with HSBC Broking Securities (Asia) Limited, you can apply for the digital trading services by contacting your Relationship Manager or submitting a "Digital Trading Services Application form" by post or in person.

2. How can I end my access to digital trading services?

You can either:

(1) Submit your request through the digital trading services email services system; or

(2) Call your Relationship Manager or our customer service hotline.

Please note that ending your access to digital trading services will not close your account with HSBC Broking Securities (Asia) Limited, and you can continue to place orders and give instructions through other channels, e.g. by phone.

3. What can I find in the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

HSBC Broking is always looking to evolve and upgrade services to ensure our customers can capture opportunities that arise. With intuitive and easy to navigate design, the app will provide latest market updates and allow you to manage your investment in a handy way. Some key features you may enjoy include:

4. Where can I download the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

You can download "HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app" from the Hong Kong App Store or Google Play.

1. What are the Registration UID and Registration PIN?

Registration UID and Registration PIN are system-generated username and password that you need for your digital trading services self-registration when accessing digital trading services at the first time.

2. What if I have lost or forgotten my Registration UID or Registration PIN?

If you have forgotten your Registration UID or Registration PIN, please contact our customer service hotline.

3. How can I self-register for and access digital trading services?

You need to apply for digital trading services first; see question 1 under "Digital trading services information" above.

Once you've done that, you will need to input your Registration UID, Registration PIN as well as your Personal Identification Document Number the first time you access digital trading services. After all the input fields are verified, you will be asked to create your personal Username, Password and Second Password for future log-on . Once you have completed the self-registration process successfully, the Registration UID and Registration PIN will become invalid.

4.I have entered my Registration PIN and/or Personal Identification Document Number incorrectly for three consecutive times and I cannot access any digital trading services. What should I do?

For security reasons, we automatically block your access to digital trading services if this happens. Please contact our customer service hotline for assistance.

5. When will my Registration UID & PIN expire?

Your Registration UID doesn't expire. Your Registration PIN will expire in 60 days after the PIN letter issuance day.

If your Registration PIN has expired, please contact our customer service hotline and request a new Registration PIN.

6. What should I do if I have forgotten my Username?

If you have forgotten your Username, please contact our customer service hotline.

7. What should I do if I have forgotten my Password and/or Second Password?

If you have forgotten your Password and/or Second Password, please click "Forgot your password(s)" to reset your password(s). However, for security reason, the new password(s) will not become effective until our customer service representative contacts you to confirm the new password reset. Should you have not received any calls from us within two working days after submitting your password reset request, please contact our customer service hotline.

8. I have entered my Second Password incorrectly for three consecutive times and I cannot access any digital trading services. What should I do?

For security reason, we will automatically block your access to digital trading services if this happens. Please contact our customer service hotline for assistance.

However, if you have forgotten your existing password, you can click "Forgot your password(s)" to reset your password. Our customer service representative will contact you soon for confirming your new password.

9. How can I change my Password and/or Second Password?

You can do this on the "Service Requests" page by logging on your digital trading services using your Security Device.

10. How many digits can I choose for the PIN of the new Security Device?

You can only choose a 4-6 digit PIN for the new device. For enhanced security, please enter a 6-digit PIN.

11. How do I set up a new PIN for the new Security Device?

Please follow these steps:

1. Hold the bottom right green button for 2 seconds to turn on the Device 2. Enter a new 4 to 6 digits PIN at your choice using the keypad and press the bottom left yellow button to complete the first PIN entry (To delete input, please press the green button) 3. Please follow the on-screen instruction and re-enter PIN 4. "NEW PIN CONF" will be displayed for 2 seconds if the PIN is successfully set up

Hold the bottom right green button for 2 seconds to turn on the Device
Enter a 4-6 digit PIN of your choice using the keypad and press the bottom left yellow button to complete the first PIN entry(To delete input, please press the green button)
Confirm the new PIN by re-entering it
"NEW PIN CONF" will be displayed for 2 seconds if the PIN is successfully entered

12. What happens if my Security Device PIN setup is unsuccessful?

A message 'FAIL PIN' will be shown on the device, reflecting that your confirmation PIN did not match the first PIN entered. You will need to restart the PIN setup process by pressing the green button.

13. Why do I see a message 'NEW PIN not SAFE' on the Security Device?

This means that the new PIN that you have entered is not safe and could be easily guessed, i.e. repeating or sequential numbers (e.g. 111111, 123456, 543210). Please restart the PIN setup process and choose another 4-6 digit PIN.

14. How do I change my PIN for the Security Device?

Please follow these steps:

After your device is turned on and unlocked (you see the Welcome screen "HELLO"), press and hold the button "8" for 2 seconds to activate the change PIN function.
Then enter a 4-6 digit PIN using the keypad and press the yellow button on the bottom left to complete the input.
Confirm the new PIN by re-entering it.

15. What should I do if I forget my PIN for the Security Device?

Please contact our customer service hotline for assistance.

16. I have entered my PIN incorrectly for three consecutive times and my Security Device is locked. What should I do?

You should get an unlock code on the security device screen after entering an invalid PIN for three consecutive times or more. Please contact our customer service hotline and provide the unlock code to unlock the security device.

17. What should I do if my Security Device is locked / lost / broken / stolen?

Please contact our customer service hotline.

18. What is SMS one-time password ("SMS OTP")?

SMS OTP is a one-time 6-digit password generated by computer system and then sent to your mobile phone registered with us via short message service (i.e. "SMS"), with the aim to strengthen identity authentication. Each SMS OTP can only be used once and will expires in 100 seconds.

19. What is a valid mobile phone number for receiving SMS OTP?

A valid mobile phone number for receiving SMS OTP includes any local, Mainland China or overseas numbers. Please provide us with the correct country/region code if yours is a Mainland China or overseas number. This does not work for mobile phones with a call forwarding service turned on.

20. Are there any charges for receiving SMS OTP?

It is free to receive SMS OTP in Hong Kong. While overseas or if you are using overseas telecommunication service providers, your service providers may levy charges on receiving SMS OTP. Please consult with your telecommunication service providers for details.

21. Can I receive SMS OTP while overseas?

If you are located overseas or traveling abroad and use an overseas telecommunication service provider, such service provider might not support receiving international SMS. You may turn on the roaming service of your mobile phone while traveling outside Hong Kong if you wish to receive SMS OTP from us. Please consult with your telecommunication service provider for details.

22. Can I use an authentication method than SMS OTP?

You may choose to log on to digital trading services using the security code generated by your security device through the "Security Device" mode.

23. How can I update my mobile phone number for receiving SMS OTP?

You may update your mobile phone number by (1) submitting your request through the digital trading services email services system; or (2) returning a completed and signed Change of Customer Information Instruction Form by post or in-person.

1. How can I buy stocks on the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

You can buy stocks by using the “Buy” tab at the bottom or click the magnifier button in the top right hand corner to search for stock using stock code or company name and choosing "Buy" button in the detailed quote page.

2. How can I sell stocks on the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

You can sell stocks by clicking your holdings in "Portfolio" tab or click the magnifier button in the top right hand corner to search for stock using stock code or company name and choosing "Sell" button in the detailed quote page.

3. Where can I view my order status on the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

You can view your order status by accessing the more tab at the bottom right hand corner and then select "Order Status".

4. How can I modify or cancel an Hong Kong Market order during Continuous Trading Session on the HSBC Broking Services mobile trading app?

You can go to order status page and select the order you want to modify or cancel. The app will bring you to order details page and you can then modify or cancel an unfilled order.

6. For Hong Kong stocks, when can I place orders through digital trading services?

Please refer to the follow table for the time slots and order types that you may choose in digital trading services for Hong Kong stocks:

There will be a random start of Pre-opening session order matching from 9:20 am to 9:22 am. Upon start of Pre-opening session order matching, all subsequent input of orders will be rejected.

There will be a random start of closing auction session order matching from 4:08 pm to 4:10 pm. Upon start of closing auction session order matching, all subsequent input of orders will be rejected.

*Remarks for Good Till Expiry orders:

Order processing time depends on market conditions and be longer at the start of a trading session.
If your order is not fully executed at market close on the day you place your order, the unfilled order quantity (in whole or in part) will be pending for execution again at your specified price on the next trade day and each following trade day until the order quantity is filled or until the expiry date. We will charge brokerage commission, including minimum charges, based on the executed quantity on each trade day.
When you place a Good Till Expiry order, we encourage you to observe possible changes in the share price or quantity due to any subsequent corporate events.
Closing Auction Session are from 4 pm – 4:10 pm on a full-day trading day and from 12 noon – 12:10 pm on a half-day trading day.

7. I placed multiple orders of the same securities through digital trading services that were all executed on the same day. How is the brokerage commission together with the fees and charges calculated for the transactions?

The brokerage commission together with the fees and charges are calculated on the basis of the aggregated transaction amount of the purchase or sale of the same securities executed on the same trading day. Please refer to the table below regarding the calculation arrangement for different stock markets.

The brokerage commission together with the fees and charges are calculated on the basis of the aggregated transaction amount of the purchase or sale of the same securities executed on the same trading day. 8. Can I trade stocks that are listed on an overseas stock exchanges through digital trading services?

You may log on to the HSBC Broking mobile trading app to trade stocks (other than options) in Hong Kong, China Connect, US, UK and Australia markets. Alternatively, you may log on to the HSBC Broking internet trading to trade stocks (other than options) on Hong Kong and China Connect markets on the types of device that you like, such as tablets, desktop computers and mobile phone. If you wish to invest in other securities, please contact your designated Relationship Manager.

9. For Hong Kong Market, what order types does digital trading services support? What do they mean?

For Hong Kong Market, digital trading services supports 5 order types:
Order Type	Remarks
At-Auction Limit Order	Once you have placed an at-auction limit order, you cannot amend or cancel it during 9:15 am - 9:30 am and 4:06 pm - 4:10 pm (or 12:06 pm – 12:10 pm for half-day trading day). For pre-opening session, any unfilled at-auction limit order after pre-opening session will be carried forward to the continuous trading session as a limit order if the order price is set within the allowed range.
Limit Order	A limit order will allow matching only at your specified price. If your input price for a buy order is higher than the best ask price or your input price for a sell order is lower than the best bid price, that order will be cancelled.
Enhanced Limit Order	This order will only match at or better than your specified price. If your enhanced limit order is not immediately fully executed, it will be put in the price queue at your specified price. Please note that if your input price is better than the prevailing market price, we may execute your order at a price closer to the prevailing market price, if market conditions allow. The executed price (if we execute your order) may be better than your input price subject to market conditions.
Special Limit Order	This order will be sent to the market for matching when the nominal price is at or better than your specified price. When we process a special limit order, we will match up to 10 price queues in the Exchange. If your special limit order is not immediately fully executed, any unfilled quantity will be cancelled.
Market Order	Market order is an instruction to buy/sell securities at the prevailing market price. Please note, due to market conditions, the final execution price may deviate from the nominal price when you place the order. A market order is handled in a form of special limit order and it will be sent to the market once only. The highest purchase price or lowest selling price is set at 20 price spreads from the nominal price. A market order will match up to 20 price spreads and 10 best price queues at the exchange. Any unfilled quantity of a market order will be cancelled (e.g. due to market conditions). Please refer to this illustrative example

For Hong Kong Market, digital trading services supports 5 order types:

10. When can I place At-Auction Limit orders to participate in the Pre-Opening Session in Hong Kong stock market?

You can place At-Auction Limit orders through digital trading services from 12:00 midnight to 9:22 am^ to participate in the Pre-Opening Session on each trading day. You can amend or cancel such orders before 9:15 am.

Processing of At-Auction Limit orders and their amendment or cancellation is on the best effort basis. The prevailing market conditions and the high volume of orders pending for processing may lead to a long order processing time, or even causing the orders not being routed to SEHK during the Order Input Period. You are advised to check the latest status of your order on the "Order Status" page.

^Remarks for Pre-opening session:

There will be a random start of Pre-opening session order matching from 9:20 am to 9:22 am. Upon start of Pre-opening session order matching, all subsequent input of orders will be rejected.

11. After confirming my At-auction limit order in the Hong Kong stocks trading, digital trading services displays a message saying that my order has a price deviation, what should I do?

If (1) the Pre-Opening session price limit or previous trade day’s closing price are not available; or (2) the price of your order deviates 10% or more against the previous trade day's closing price, you will receive a warning message from digital trading services.

If you want like to amend the order price, please press “Modify”. You may refer to the prevailing Indicative Equilibrium Price (IEP) or nominal price when determining your order price.

If you wish to proceed, press "Confirm Order". After confirming the At-Auction Limit Order placement, the following warning message in red will be prompted on your screen:

"The following At-auction Limit Order is subject to price monitoring by digital trading services. The limit price of your order may create an unreasonable Indicative Equilibrium Price (IEP) of the stock. Your order is subject to acceptance or rejection by digital trading services. Please check your digital trading services email for the order acknowledgement message or order rejection message.

12. How will my At-auction limit Order, which has already been placed to digital trading services before the suspension of trading at the SEHK due to typhoon or black rainstorm signal, be handled upon resumption of trading during a trading day?

If trading at the SEHK resumes before Pre-opening session, all orders will be handled and processed as usual on a trading day.

If trading at the SEHK resumes with Pre-opening session cancelled, your At-Auction Limit Orders that are already placed to digital trading services will be converted to and treated as Limit Order automatically by our system and place to SEHK trading system by straight through processing.

13. What happens if the enhanced limit order input price is higher for buy order (or lower for sell order) than the prevailing market price?

We may execute your order at a price closer to the market price, if the market conditions allow. The executed price (if we execute your order) may be better than your input price subject to market conditions.

We encourage you to check the latest order status in digital trading services after order placement.

14. How many trade days will my "Good Till Expiry" orders be valid for?

You can set a "Good Till Expiry" order to expire up to 10 trade days (including the day it is placed) later, i.e. valid from the current trade day (T day) up to the 10th trade day (T day + 9). These orders can span across the year-end.

15. When I input an enhanced limit order in digital trading services, an alert message will be shown with content as “Attention: Please review your input price as it substantially deviates from the prevailing market price”. Why is this message shown?

Whenever your input price in an enhanced limit order deviates more than 10% from the prevailing price, this message will appear.

We encourage you to review the input price to see if any amendment is required before confirming the order.

Prevailing market price is determined according to the following sequence:

(1) Nominal price

(2) Last traded price (if nominal price is not available)

(3) Previous closing price (if neither nominal price nor last traded price is available) or

(4) Subscription price for initial public offering

Example (for illustration only):

The current Bid / Ask quotes of stock ABC is HK$ 1.78 / HK$ 1.79

Client A inputs an enhanced limit order to buy 2,000 shares of stock ABC at HK$ 1.99.

Since the input price is higher than the ask price for more than 10%, the alert message will be triggered.

16. How far back can I view the transaction history of my account through digital trading services?

You can review the transaction history of your account for at most last two months through digital trading services.

17. What are the order types that are available for US, UK and Australia Stock Trading on mobile trading app?

We only accept the limit order, which allows you to specify your highest purchase price or lowest selling price valid for up to the 10th trade day (T day + 9) for US stock trading and valid till the market closes on the same trade day (T day) for UK and Australia stock trading.

A market order will match up to a maximum of 20 spreads from the nominal price, that is HK$ 1.60 + 20 x 0.01 = HKD1.80 or below.
When a market order is submitted to the market, the order will match with the 10 best price queues.

1. What is an IPO?

IPO stands for Initial Public Offering. It is the first time a company issues shares to the public. The new shares will be listed on the stock exchange for trading.

2. Where can I get the prospectus for an IPO?

You can view the electronic version of the prospectus by following the instructions on the IPO application page of the digital trading services or obtain a hardcopy prospectus from the branches of designated receiving banks as set out in the newspaper announcement of an issue.

3. Is online IPO application available 24 hours a day?

Yes. It is a round-the-clock service. Once the application is officially opened, you can logon to your digital trading services and submit your IPO application online.

4. What is the deadline for applying for an IPO through digital trading services?

Our online application closes at 4:00pm one business day prior to the official application closing date. Please refer to the prospectus for the application closing date of an issue.

5. How do I know whether my IPO application has been successfully submitted?

You can check your application details on the 'IPO Application Status' page.

6. Can I amend or cancel my IPO application?

Yes. You can amend or cancel your IPO application anytime up to our online application closing date.

7. Can I subscribe for IPO shares through digital trading services with margin financing?

No. IPO subscription through digital trading services is cash-based only. If you would like to subscribe for an IPO with margin financing, please contact your designated Relationship Manager directly.

1. What is Corporate Event Service?

This Service will enable you to submit electronic instructions regarding dividend payment in cash or scrip for Hong Kong listed stocks held in your account with us. Please note that other corporate events including company privatization or merger and acquisition is not supported by the Corporate Event Service at this stage. We may continue to contact you by other means in respect of other corporate events.

2. Where can I view the details of dividend payments available for election?

When there is any dividend payment open for election, you would be able to view this under the digital trading services email service or the corporate event page.

3. When can I submit a dividend payment instruction through digital trading services?

You can submit an instruction when the dividend payment is open for election until the specified cut-off date at 12pm (Hong Kong time). Please refer to the details on the "Corporate Event" page or press "Elect/Change" to check the election cut-off date of each dividend payment on the "Corporate Event" page.

Please refer to the dividend payment details before submitting. If you submit an instruction after the cut-off time, it will not be accepted and a warning message "Dividend election period has been closed" will be prompted on your screen.

4. How will I know whether my dividend payment instruction has been successfully submitted through digital trading services?

An acknowledgement message will be prompted on your screen showing your instruction details. The status of the dividend payment will be indicated as "Instruction Placed" on the "Corporate Event" page. You can view the details of instruction submitted by pressing "History" on the "Corporate Event" page.

5. What dividend will I receive if I did not submit a dividend instruction before the election cut-off date?

For dividend payments with no instruction received from you before the election cut-off, cash dividend denominated in the trading currency of the listed company will be the default mode in line with the practice of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited.

You can press "Elect/Change" or "History" on the "Corporate Event" page to check the default mode in respect of each dividend payment.

6. When will I receive my dividend payment?

You would receive your dividend payment on the tentative payable date announced by the relevant listed company. You can view the tentative payable date in the "Corporate event" page. Where the tentative payable date of the dividend has not been provided by the listed company, the payable date would be indicated as "To be announced" in digital trading services. Digital trading services will provide an update when the listed company has announced the tentative payable date.

Upon receiving your dividend payment, please check to ensure that the correct payment is made pursuant to your instruction. You can view the details of instruction submitted by pressing "History" on the "Corporate Event" page.

7. What is an Ex-Date?

Ex-date is the date on or after which a stock is traded without entitlement to a previously declared dividend.

8. What is a Dividend Re-investment Price?

This is the price announced by the listed company at which shares would be purchased for the entitled dividend.

Where the dividend re-investment price has not yet been announced by the listed company, the re-investment price will be indicated as "To be announced" in digital trading services. Digital trading services will provide an update when the listed company has announced the price.
