Proof of income and/or asset documents
- Proof of income for HSBC auto payroll customers:
Prior to their application for a credit limit adjustment, proof of income is not required for HSBC payroll customers with a payroll record of:
- at least 1 month for regular earners
- at least 3 months for irregular earners*
However, HSBC reserves the right to request for such proof at any time.
- Proof of income for non-HSBC auto payroll customers:
Non-HSBC payroll customers must provide a payroll record of:
- at least 1 month for regular earners
- at least 3 months for irregular earners*
Acceptable proof of income includes your bank statements or passbook records explicitly showing monthly salary or deposit credits, latest tax demand note, latest payroll advice, or employment letter.
Other acceptable types of documents include bank statements or passbook records showing regular monthly rental income credited to your bank account and a signed tenancy agreement.

You may be asked to provide either your:
- Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID) – not required for existing HSBC customers
- working visa / employment contract / employment letter with employment period details – required for applicants who do not hold a permanent HKID
* Note: Irregular earners include applicants working on a part-time, commission or profit-sharing basis.
