What is Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice?

This is a new programme that not only brings you 6X RewardCash all year round, but also a wider range of merchants. 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024, you can receive the basic 1X RewardCash and also allocate the extra 5X RewardCash among five spending categories including Dining, Health & Leisure, Home, Lifestyle and Overseas and Mainland China Spending. This gives you more choices and lets you earn rewards faster.

When will the extra RewardCash be credited to my account?

Extra RewardCash earned with respect to each posted eligible transaction will be credited to the respective eligible credit card account in the same way as the Bank's RewardCash Programme.

What are the five spending categories? Which merchants are included in each category?

The five spending categories are Dining, Health & Leisure, Home, Lifestyle and Overseas and Mainland China Spending.

1. Dining - Spending at dining outlets in Hong Kong. Eligible transaction is based on the merchant codes issued by VISA/ Mastercard / China UnionPay.
2. Health & Leisure – Spending at designated cinemas, karaoke chains, attractions and recreational outlets. Please click here for the designated merchant list.
3. Home – Spending at designated supermarkets, personal healthcare, home and furniture, electronic appliances stores and telecom companies.Please click here for the designated merchant list.
4. Lifestyle - Spending at designated department stores, retail chains, travel agents and book stores. Please click here for the designated merchant list.
5. Overseas and Mainland China Spending – Foreign currency spending made overseas, in mainland China and Macau (excluding Hong Kong). Eligibility is according to how such country / region is coded by VISA/Mastercard/ China UnionPay.

Will I earn extra RewardCash for my online purchase/ phone order/ mail order transactions?

As long as these transactions are made at the selected spending categories/ designated merchants, extra RewardCash will be rewarded.

For example:

• If you have made an online purchase in foreign currency and with the country/region code sets as Mainland China, your transaction will be classified as “Overseas and Mainland China Spending”.
  
• If you have made an online transaction on food delivery at a dining merchant with the merchant code sets as restaurants, your transaction will be classified as "Dining".

Are there any transactions under the "Dining" category that are not eligible to earn extra RewardCash?

Transactions made in respect of banquet services, private functions, private room events, dining outlets in hotels, department stores, associations and clubhouses, and the food and beverage services provided by a designated merchant of other spending categories will not be entitled to earn extra RewardCash.

If I made a transaction at a restaurant in Mainland China, will this transaction be classified under "Dining" or “Overseas and Mainland China Spending”?

As this transaction in foreign currency is made in Mainland China, and the country/region code of this transaction is set as Mainland China, the transaction will be classified as “Overseas and Mainland China Spending”.

If I spend in Mainland China using my HSBC Dual Currency Credit Card, am I eligible to earn the extra RewardCash?

Yes, you will be eligible if you have allocated extra RewardCash to the “Overseas and Mainland China Spending” category. For Cardholders using a Dual Currency Credit Card RMB sub-account, the amount of Card spending required to earn $1 RewardCash is RMB250.

Can I earn extra RewardCash for my purchase instalment plan?

Yes, you will be able to earn extra RewardCash for your instalment transactions. There are two kinds of instalment plans - "merchant purchase instalment" or "credit card spending instalment". 

"Merchant purchase instalment" refers to the interest-free instalment plan transacted at a merchant. Extra RewardCash will be credited to your account based on your monthly instalment amount. 

"Credit card spending instalment" refers to the instalment plan you arranged through the Bank after the transaction is made. You will earn extra RewardCash based on the total transaction amount after it is posted. Therefore, you will not earn the extra RewardCash again for your monthly instalment amount afterwards.

How do I calculate the extra RewardCash?

Note: Cardholders will earn $1 RewardCash for every HK$250 spent. Odd dollars for each transaction will be carried forward to the next card transaction for the purpose of calculating RewardCash entitlement.

Is there any minimum spending requirement for this programme?

There is no minimum spending requirement for this programme. Once registered, all transactions (including monthly purchase instalment, phone orders, mail orders and online purchases) made by eligible credit cards during the effective period and which fall within your preferred spending categories will earn extra RewardCash.

How can I use the RewardCash I have earned?

i. You can use your RewardCash to redeem your favourite items at the Rewards e-Shop or redeem e-Coupons via HSBC Reward+ app.

ii. You can turn your RewardCash into instant savings when you shop at wide range of participating merchants all around town. Each $1 RewardCash can be used to offset HK$1 on your spending.

iii. You can bind your account of the merchant partner loyalty programme via HSBC Reward+ app and convert RewardCash into merchant partner loyalty points, to redeem featured products or use them directly for purchase at participating merchants. 

How can I check how much I have spent and how much Rewardcash I have earned under this programme?

You can check it on your credit card monthly statement which shows your transactions in that month so you can calculate your total spending.

Will odd dollars under this programme be written off or carried forward?

Any odd dollars spent will be carried forward to the next card transaction(s) for the purpose of calculating RewardCash entitlement. Any odd dollars remaining as of a statement date will be carried forward to the subsequent statement month for calculating RewardCash entitlement.

You can register once by completing the online registration form or via HSBC Reward+ app. The registration will be applied to all eligible credit cards under your name and you will start earning extra RewardCash within 3 workings days after completing the Registration on or after 1 January 2024 via Reward+ or submit your registration form via desktop on or after 4 January 2024. If your registration is not successful, a rejection notification will be sent to your email address on the Bank's record, or your correspondence address in case there is no valid record of email address. Otherwise you will start earning Extra RewardCash within 3 working days after completing the registration, and the details will be shown on your next and any subsequent monthly credit card statement. Your first HK$100,000 eligible transactions made within the effective period stated in the "Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice" programme details shown on the monthly credit card statement will be entitled to extra RewardCash.

Can I register any time during the promotion period?

To participate in this programme, you are required to register on or before 31 October 2024.

I am holding different HSBC credit cards, do I need to register for each card?

After your registration is confirmed, your registration will be automatically applied to all eligible credit cards under your name. Therefore, you don't need to register for each card.

How will I know if my registration is confirmed? And when can I start earning the extra RewardCash?

If your registration is not successful, a rejection notification will be sent to your email address on the Bank's record, or your correspondence address in case there is no valid record of email address. Otherwise you will start earning Extra RewardCash within 3 working days after completing the registration, and the details will be shown on your next and any subsequent monthly credit card statement.

How can I check my registration record?

You can refer to your monthly credit card statement or check it out on HSBC Reward+ for the registration details.

Can I change or cancel my registration?

Sorry that your registration details cannot be changed once it is confirmed.

I have submitted multiple registrations, how does the Bank decide which of my registration is successful?

You are required to register for this programme once only during the entire promotional period. After your first registration is confirmed, it will be automatically applied to all eligible credit cards under your name. Subsequent registrations will not be processed. You can refer to your monthly credit card statement for the registration details.

I reported lost of my credit card which I had registered for this promotion, do I need to register again with my replacement card?

You do not need to register again. Since the registration record will be automatically applied to all eligible credit cards under your name. Therefore, you can still earn extra RewardCash with your replacement card.

How do I check which spending categories I've enrolled in and what the allocation of my RewardCash multipliers are under the 'Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice' programme?
