How soon after registering for an HSBC Premier account online can I use the account?

Once your application is submitted during online business hours - Mondays to Fridays 8.30am-7.00pm, Saturdays 8.30am-4.00pm - and you have registered through Personal Internet Banking, you can use your integrated account immediately.  

If you apply after business hours or on public holidays, your application will be processed on the next working day at 8.30am and, under normal circumstances, your HSBC Premier account will be in operation before 10am on the same day.

 

I'm an existing HSBC customer. Can I register for an HSBC Premier account online?

Yes, you are welcome to register for an HSBC Premier account online for yourself if you: 

  • have a personal bank account, in your name only, with HSBC (credit cards and safe deposit boxes are excluded) and
  • have a total relationship balance of HKD1,000,000 or above.

 

If you have a joint account, you will need to register at a branch.

Can I register for an HSBC Premier account in joint names?

Yes, you can do this at any HSBC branch. You can't register online for HSBC Premier in joint names, as your log on is personal to you only.

Request an appointment at a branch to open a joint HSBC Premier account.

 

I only have a joint-name account with HSBC. Can I register for an HSBC Premier account in just my name online?

No, you can only register for HSBC Premier online for yourself if you:

  • have a personal bank account with HSBC in your name only (credit cards and safe deposit boxes are excluded); and
  • have a total relationship balance of HKD1,000,000 or more.

 

Am I charged a fee for registering online for HSBC Premier?

No, there is no additional fee. Only the normal service charges apply.

 

Can I access my HSBC Premier when I am overseas?

Yes. Once you have registered for HSBC Premier online, the system will automatically add this to your account list online.

As long as you have an internet connection you can easily manage your finances online anytime, anywhere in the world.

 

Does it make a difference to my service if I register online or at a branch for an HSBC Premier account?

No. The service you receive will be the same regardless of how you opened the account.  Please register in the way you prefer and find easiest.

 

Can I switch the autoPay instructions from my passbook account to this new HSBC Premier?

You can switch your autoPay instruction through HSBC Personal Internet Banking. You should first delete the autopay instruction from your existing passbook account and then set it up again in your new HSBC Premier. Once you've logged on, select the 'Banking' tab and select 'autoPay ', which shows your existing autoPay instruction(s) in all of your accounts with HSBC. Select the 'Delete' button to delete the specific autoPay instruction from your passbook account. Next, select 'Set up' to set up the same autoPay instruction under your new HSBC Premier.

Alternatively, you can visit any branch of HSBC and the staff will handle your instructions on the spot. 

Please notify the recipient (the party to whom you authorise us to make a payment) about the changes.

 

Will I receive a confirmation letter/email when my registration for HSBC Premier is successful?

If you submit the account opening application within the online business hours - Mondays to Fridays, 8.30am-7.00pm, Saturdays 8.30am-4.00pm, you will be notified immediately on the status of the application in the Acknowledgement page. Therefore, no confirmation letter/email will be sent to you again.

If you submit the account opening application after online business hours, you will receive an email notification on the next working day, following your account application.

 

When can I operate my HSBC Premier with an Integrated Account after it is opened online?

You can operate it immediately, but foreign exchange and time deposits will only be available on the next working day.

 

I want to keep receiving paper statements. Will there be a fee?

Yes. From 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2022, there is an annual fee of HKD20 for receiving two or more paper statements a year on your:

  • Personal Banking HK Dollar Current
  • SuperEase
  • HSBC Premier
  • HSBC One
  • Personal Integrated Account
  • University Student
  • Cash Card
  • Renminbi Savings
  • HK Dollar Statement Savings
  • CombiNations Statement Savings
  • Foreign Currency Current account(s)

 

Effective 1 January 2023, if the below account holders choose to receive any paper statement in a full calendar year, account holders will be subject to a Paper Statement Service Annual Fee of HKD60.

Each year's fee will be taken from your account during the first quarter of the following year via Direct Debit.
We donate the fee to non-profit organisations to support development in the local community.

 

How do I link the HSBC accounts I hold in a different country or region?

Simply register for HSBC Online Banking in a region where you have an HSBC account. Next, log on and follow these steps:

  1. Go to 'My banking', find 'Global View' and select 'Add/remove a country or region'.
  2. Choose the country or region where your other HSBC account are located.
  3. You'll be redirected to log on to HSBC Online Banking in your selected country or region.
  4. Read and accept the terms and conditions, then select 'Link profile' to complete.

Once your accounts are successfully linked, you'll be able to see your overseas personal HSBC accounts via Global View on your 'My accounts' dashboard in HSBC Online Banking.

 

How do I upgrade my account if I hold an overseas Premier account?

If you already hold a qualified Premier account abroad (ie you meet the total relationship balance required in that market), you can upgrade your account to Premier at a branch, on the phone, or via online or mobile banking*. We'll waive the below balance fee for your Premier account in Hong Kong as long as you keep a qualified Premier account overseas.

* Upgrading via mobile banking applies only to integrated account customers in Hong Kong with a total relationship balance of HKD500,000 or above.

 

How do I convert my Premier account to an HSBC One account?

If you're a Premier customer who wants to convert your Premier account to an HSBC One account, please visit us at any HSBC branch in Hong Kong or contact your Relationship Manager to make arrangements. Find your nearest branch.
